Why was Italy sentenced in this case?
Italy sentenced for the treatment reserved to an immigrant who declared himself a minor and consequently the obligation to pay 7,500 euros to the foreigner as compensation. For the judges it is clear that the Italian authorities have violated the rights of the foreigner seeking asylum, who should have been treated as a underage, having declared himself as such, until his age was properly assessed.

Specifically, the foreigner arrived on a boat in Italy in June 2016 and applied for asylum as an alleged unaccompanied minor. Nevertheless, the Italian authorities have decided on his placement in a center for adult migrants. For the judges, the violation committed by Italy is clear.
